This regional fund opened in late 1998 with funding from the ERDF
in Brussels. A key part of the qualification process for EU funding
is the ability to obtain loan or donation funding from the private
sector, particularly from businesses with strong local connections,
which are then matched by funds from the European Union. In this
instance, the European funding has been matched by local businesses,
including Riverside Housing Association, Liverpool Housing Trust
and the Bank of England. The fund has its own, locally based, Council,
and supports not-for-profit organisations involved in the economic
regeneration of the Merseyside area.
Loans from this fund vary in size from £15,000 to £75,000.
